Q: Why do you advocate real food so much over the shakes out there, I mean there are so many of them they can’t be that bad? A: I consider replacing a whole meal with a shake as a ‘fad’ diet. Firstly, sure you may lose weight but what happens when you stop having them? You go back to your old habits and pile the weight back on as you have learned nothing about real eating. Secondly, the body burns A LOT more calories digesting real food rather than shakes, hence aiding in fat loss and keeping your metabolism elevated. Lastly, losing weight too fast is detrimental to your health and to your long term fat loss! Losing weight too fast produces the classic yo’yo diet, as losing weight quickly means losing muscle and a slowing of your metabolism, so when you finally go back to ‘normal’ eating, the body puts all the excess calories on as fat! Q: What about my family? I haven’t got the time to cook for them and prepare something separate for myself. A: The great thing about ToneUp is it uses real food and generates meal plans and dishes for you. So you simply can cook more of whatever your plan dictates and feed it to the family as it will be normal food that everyone can eat, and probably benefit from as well! Q: What about after the initial 12 weeks plan, what if I have more to lose? A Of course there is ongoing support for as long as you need it. Our original program of 12 weeks is designed that way for several reasons (and has nothing to do with the 12 weeks transformation challenges you see in magazines, as these are crash diets that we do not condone), firstly it is a good length of time to develop and change habits, also, it has been shown people who are ‘accountable’ for their weight loss have greater success, it is also long enough to start to see a significant change in weight loss and finally our program has a large education component that we bring in week to week so we facilitate learning and the knowledge can produce lifelong changes. |
